Anet does listen.
Okay, so after the hottly debated 2/6/08 update i took a screenshot at 9:48 P.M. of Andrew Patrick keeping his eye on the thread. This proves maybe Anet actually does care what we say. I mean thats going above and beyond your job descrition to be browsing forums late at night.
Do YOU think Anet cares?

The update notes state these skill updates are under evaluation. I'm not surprised to see ANet staff watching a thread about the players' response to that update, are you? Also, Internet Exploder sucks; use Firefox.

Sadly doesn't matter how much he listens, Andrew isn't the one making the changes.

Nothing new.. seen them here before tons, but who knows how much they talk to the developers about it, and who knows if the developers themselves come here.

If they didn't care they wouldn't make updates. They simply are not obligated to do so. Just because the changes aren't to your liking doesn't mean they don't care or aren't listening. If anything those complaints that go unanswered are very much ArenaNet's way of showing they care about the quality of their game and not interested in ruining the game to satisfy the complainers.
Like those complaining about Ursan are getting ignored. Had it occurred to you folks that ArenaNet doesn't want to nerf Ursan for a reason and that reason isn't for approval.
All I'm saying is these people do care about Guild Wars.

I actually hope that GW2 will allow seperation of skills in PvP and PvE. These updates just nerf the hell out of builds we either create or actually like. I personally havent used any premade builds in well over 6 months besides faction farming. I know some things got buffed, but most are nerfs to balance pvp until someone else figures out a way to dominate pvp battles again. And in PvE, usually you dont need much balancing and your supposed to have awesome skills.
I dont actually think Anet "listens", I think they like to hear what we say as more of entertainment than anything else. I think their primary focus on the game right now is to keep balance in the game and exploits out of the game. It probaly will continue to be that way until GW2 comes out. But then they will have to get used to listening to people again, especially during beta or it will cause some failure, because i think they grown used to our complaints and the deaf ear they throw us sometimes.

When they're on "late at night", it doesn't necessarily mean it's so late in their time zone. And of course Anet browses the forums..

Sadly enough, as many people have pointed out (and I feel the need to be redundant) it doesn't mean they are going to do anything about it. The skills will be reverted after the meta if players complain and moan about them enough. Which I am sure will happen. If they think it was the right move they will stay the same. Just because ANet sees doesn't mean they will do anything.

How is a popularity contest on skill changes "not listening to the players"?
The problem is there's a billion of you and you want different things. Surprised you don't always get your own way?

It's quite obvious. GW2 is more important than GW1 now.

Separating PvP and PvE skills won't happen because the whole reason why ArenaNet is doing GW2 is to fix the gap that currently exist in PvE from PvP. They made a horrible assumption that PvE players would eventually fold into the competitive PvP play. Instead many PvErs are lost in what do and how create a workable build.
GW2 primary goal will be to incorporate the PvP into PvE so that the player doesn't feel confined to one or the other.

The point was they only seem to listen WHEN enough people whine and moan, not that they completely ignore us. lrn2read4comprehension
